Raises money
PUTNAM — The local Daughters of Isabella, a charitable organization of Catholic women, donated the $1,300 it raised last year to several groups.
The money was divided among: Putnam Boy Scouts Troop 21, the annual Steubenville East Youth Rally, the Local Missionary, Erica Olson, Daily Bread, St. Joseph and St. James schools, and Caring Families Pregnancy Center. Matching funds are kept within the parish for church needs.
The organization is founded on the principle of its motto:  Unity, Friendship and Charity.
To fulfil the goals, the group hosts charitable activities, fund-raising events and social interactions to encourage the community in a positive way to support and assist one another.
The group has sponsored Red Cross Blood Drives, Boy Scout activities, Hospice Tree of Life lighting ceremony; and members volunteer at Daily Bread, The Community Kitchen, visit the sick, support St. Jude’s Hospital and more. Specific funds are raised and donated each year.
Recently Mary Vandi was honored for her 70 years of membership, dedication and devotion to the organization.
Currently there are 64 members and the group encourages women of the Catholic faith to join.
The Daughters offer open meetings occasionally to recruit new membership and anyone who may be interested in joining may call the Regent: Maureen Desilets at 860-928-5644.
