E. HARTFORD — A Pomfret man, Christopher L. Dyer, was one of seven mechanical engineers honored recently.
Pratt & Whitney and the Hartford chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers honored seven Distinguished Engineers of the Year to launch National Engineers Week recently.
This year’s Pratt & Whitney Distinguished Engineers of the Year are: Jesse Boyer, fellow in Additive Manufacturing; Christopher L. Dyer, deputy director, Cold Section Engineering; Dr. Matthew R. Feulner, discipline manager for Operability, Propulsion Systems Analysis; David P. Houston, manager of Core Structures, Mechanical Disciplines; Katherine A. Knapp Carney, Component Integrated Product Team leader, Next Generation Product Family Programs; John P. Virtue, Jr., discipline chief for Aero Thermal Fluids, Compressor Heat Transfer; and Ryan Walsh, validation manager, PW1100G-JM engine program.
“Recipients of this prestigious award have traditionally represented the superior engineering that defines ‘Dependable Engines,’” said Tom Prete, vice president, Engineering, Pratt & Whitney. “The seven engineers selected for this year’s award are some of our most innovative thinkers, and they deserve to be recognized for their contributions to our company and the field of engineering. The contributions made by Chris, Jesse, Ryan, Matt and Katherine have helped enable Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ engine to revolutionize the commercial aviation industry,” said Prete.
