PUTNAM — After a two-year standout career at St. Peter Marian in Worcester, Demarr Ashton-Langford Jr. has decided to take the same route as his older brother Makai — he’s transferring to Putnam Science Academy. His brother is now a freshman at Providence College.
Langford will transfer to Putnam Science Academy and become a Mustang. Langford will be reclassifying into the class of 2020. His older brother also chose the prep school route as he starred for two years at Cushing Academy and most recently at Brewster Academy.
The younger Langford is looking to make the same impact that his older brother did in the prep school circuit. Langford, a 6-foot, 4-inch guard, plays AAU with Mass Rivals where he starred playing up in age on the 17U select team this past summer.
Langford should be able to help the Mustangs immediately on the perimeter with his athleticism and length. Head Coach Tom Espinosa said: “Demarr has great upside moving forward and we are excited to add him to our team and community here at Putnam Science. He has the making of a kid who can be a big contributor for us over the next couple of years.” Langford and the rest of the new Mustangs will arrive to the quiet corner of Connecticut in three weeks for the start of the new school year.
