PUTNAM ---  Trees along Main Street in downtown Putnam will be getting haircuts and more in the coming month.
Two trees, which were "completely dead," according to the Department of Public Works officials, were removed about a month ago.
The trees were installed around 1989 when Main Street was renovated and made a one-way street.
The two trees stood in front of the Courthouse Restaurant and low limbs and dead limbs on other trees were trimmed away or trimmed back.
The Department of Public Works intends to trim back trees on the opposite side of Main Street, as well. Trees in front of the former Palace Antiques building, at the corner of Main Street and Canal Street, have not been trimmed in some time and will be getting an intense haircut.
The building's owner intends to repoint the building and replace the windows.
