event April 16
PUTNAM — A Healthy Kids Day event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 16 at the Putnam Middle School. The free event is hosted by the Regional Community YMCA and is encouraging all kids and parents in northeast Connecticut to come for a play date and commit to being active every day.
Activities include sports of all sorts, including basketball, shooting station, cake walk, knock down the pins, hula hoop, Frisbee golf and more. In addition representatives will be on hand from Day Kimball Healthcare, HealthQuest Northeast CT, Putnam PRIDE, chiropractic services, and the Regional Community Y. There will also be information on healthy cooking, growing healthy foods, nutrition plus fun activities for kids. For more information call 466-0634.
One of the many guests and speakers will include Parents’ Choice Award-winning independent children’s recording artist, contemporary folk musician, and Pomfret resident Maria Sangiolo. She will be releasing her latest recording, "Maria and Friends – Planting Seeds" at Y Healthy Kids Day. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this recording will benefit the Northeast Organic Farming Association.
