BROOKLYN — Day Kimball Healthcare hosted a sell-out crowd of more than 120 guests at its 2nd annual D’Vine wine tasting and raised $6,624 for the Northeast Connecticut Cancer Fund of Day Kimball Healthcare. The fund provides financial assistance for cancer screening and treatment to northeastern Connecticut residents in need.

“Once again, we were able to exceed all expectations with a sell-out crowd for this event,” said DKH Director of Development Kristen Willis. “The combination of committed and generous donors and vendors, a well-organized committee with dedicated volunteers, and an amazing venue, has made this annual event a great success and something that our community has come to look forward to each year. I’m very pleased to note that the proceeds from this event, which is only the second of five scheduled for this calendar year in support of the Northeast Connecticut Cancer Fund, brings us to 25% of our 2017 event goal of $50,000 for the fund.”

Fun Run

THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run is  on Wednesdays through Sept. 13. It will be held at the West Thompson Dam Entrance on Ravenelle Road. Celebration

May 5 Lori McDermott owner of Glow Aerial Yoga and Wellness, and Rhonda Wishart, owner of Strong Body, Strong Mind Family Yoga, combined more than 20 years of Yoga experience and two different styles of yoga into one space. Aerial Yoga offers the support of a silk hammock to explore, refine, and advance traditional asanas, both in the air and on the ground.  Rhonda offers an all-accessible, mat-based Yoga and pre-natal programs.  Both styles cater to special populations that may have physical challenges.  They have partnered to create a business space for the entire community that supports mindfulness both on and off the yoga mat.
